Default Y-pipe

I just got my SLP Loudmouth and now looking into a Y-pipe. Should I just get the SLP one or is there a better one out there?

Whatever you do, I suggest high flow cats...unless you have heard a catless, loudmouth equipped car IN PERSON.

You can keep the cats you have, no problem there, they just won't flow as well...

But that's besides the point, because without headers there's no reason to change your cats OR ypipe, not worth it. Save up for headers and then 1). run true duals, (recommended) or 2). get the ypipe that goes with your headers.

At that point it would be a good idea to replace your cats too.

With out headers or a custom dual setup no real reason to run a aftermarket Y pipe.

Alot of the newer and better made high flow cats won't lose you any power, keep you smog legal and not smell. A good deal of people also enjoy cats for the tone they give and few DBs it quites the car.

If your are going to get an aftermarket y-pipe, the SLP fits excellent. I don't know if it actually gains you any performance. I had it on with the loudmouth, but I just put on headers and the tsp catted-Y.....those are great too!

I think the the SLP Y gave my GMMG exhaust a little extra umph, but could just be a "I want to believe thing"

The SLP Y pipe does not provide any real performance gains, but it does make the car slightly louder. I bought mine used for $50 and put it on with my hooker carback, and it was a small, yet noticeable improvement in sound. Is that small improvement in sound worth the $200 price tag of a new SLP Y pipe? I doubt it.

I'm running the Jet Hot headers. They are pretty much like the Hookers. I've had them in over a year and they still look brand new up top. Very pleased with the install as well, seeing how i had no problems!!!

There are generally two different camps: 1) QTP/Kooks stainless steel headers, or 2) pacesetter coated headers.

The majority of users here run one of the those two types, some recently run the ebay stainless headers (See the ebay warning thread sticky).

The performance of all of these headers is about the same performance, the huge difference in price you will see if because of what material they are made out of (stainless steel or coated).
