Default TB Compatibility

Does anyone know if a TB off of a '04 GTO would work on an '00 WS6? Would it be plug-n-play or would I have to tinker with it for it to work?

Thanks,
Marc

i belive they are drive by wire correct?

I dunno if its just plug and play..

You'll need a new go(gas) pedal also...IMO too much work for nothing

I have no idea how you'd switch over to DBW, but when all is said and done, a port job on your's will probably end up less $. Anything special with the GTO TB or just generally curious?

The 04 GTO uses a LS2 motor which has a 90mm throttle body which wont work on the LS6/LS1 intake. Also it uses DBW system like the corvette. Dont know how you would make it work.

I thought the 04's were LS1's and 05-06 was LS2? ::shurg::

Thanks for the responses. I thought the GTO TB was DBW too. The guy selling it on ebay says that, "it'll work with any LS1, and that it might work with an LT1".

Too bad too... it's a Shaner S3 for a decent price.

You guys saved me a headache.

For anyone who may find this in the future...

The TB on an '04 GTO (LS1) is the same TB that's on a '00 - '02 Firebird/Camaro (LS1). The "Drive by Wire" TBs on the GTO showed up on the LS2.

So, I guess the guy was right that his TB will fit my '00 WS6.

Well now that everyone in the thread was wrong... Did you at least end up getting it or did someone else nab it?

Yeah... I was a little confused at first as well. After spending more time searching here and comparing posts on a GTO forum (mostly comparing part numbers and looking for similiarities), I finally was able to determine they are the same. I was really surprised how little the LS1 in the GTO and the LS1 in the F-Bodys are compared to each other on the forums.

I'm still working on getting it. Will have to see how it goes tomorrow morning.
