Default headers / tuning question

well my SES light came on (O2 sensor/cats)...forcing me into an early header install ...but i suppose that's not a bad thing. i'll be deleting AIR and EGR during the install and am wondering about the light staying on.

i've heard it will in most header installs...i'll hopefully be putting a cam in before too long (couple months at most hopefully) which will obviously warrant a good tune.

should i wait for the cam to do the tune, or try to find someone with a HPTuners / LS1edit or similar to erase the EGR/AIR from my ECU in the meantime?...or is this even necessary?

its gonna throw codes thats it. unless you need an inspection sticker before you get a cam you can wait. getting a tune now may help get more wpoer from the ehaders until you get a cam though

It's really not necessary just for the EGR/AIR/Rear O2s. If you have somebody local that can tune, they can do a "basic tune" for around $50-$75. But it wouldn't be an issue at all to drive around without deleting those codes till you do a cam and get a full tune.

Yea like they said it depends if you can drive around with codes being thrown. It won't hurt anything necessarily but you will have the light on. You can get the codes removed for under $100 probably so it depends how long until you install the cam. If it's soon, don't worry about it and get a tune when you get the cam. But if it's not that soon it might be worthwhile to get the codes removed from someone who has unlimited version of HP Tuners.

Just for getting removed codes, you could consider a mail-order tune. They are good for things like that...

Also try posting in your regional forum to try to find tuners in your area...
