Default LM vs Hooker

I have long tube headers and with the LM it can be raspy at times. I'm thinking about trading around with friends and getting a hooker catback. Has anyone done this switch before? If so, what did you think?

It would be the best thing you can do. I had the LM with LT's and I hated it. With the Hooker exhaust you'll get that deep muscle car rumble. I say switch.

Awesome, will this affect my tune though? I just got one about 3 weeks ago.

It had no effect on my tune. The only change was a better sounding exhaust note.

The hooker will be MUCH more tame than the LM. The Hooker will get loud when you open it up, but will be much easier to live with at all other RPM ranges and will not drone and rasp like the LM.

If you have the modular LM you could go for the LM2. Its what I have and its not loud till you tromp on it.

Just realize that you are going from one extreme to another: from ultra loud to ultra quiet. Even with LT's/ORY, the Hooker is extremely quiet at normal cruising but opens up nicely at WOT.

i agree the LT's + ORY + LM was not the cleanest sounding...but going WOT!! holy $Hit man..it was the best..it was a beast. i have magnaflow right now, and ill see how it sounds with longtubes.. but i was in a toss up between the hooker and magnaflow. i went magnaflow because of the stainless steel. but the hooker sounds mean at idle especially a cammed ls1..

If you like the LM you'll hate the Hooker or vice versa. Few people like both.

I'd be tempted to either run cats with the LM or swap the resonator for a Magnaflow bullet muffler (Part# is MPE-14419 from Summit). It will still be loud but sound more muscle car than the Hooker exhaust could ever dream of.

Thats the funniest thing I've heard you say on here ever.

Fact is the Hooker might not be as loud & uncontrolled as the LM, but it does have a better quality of sound. Not to mention its one of the highest flowing full sized mufflers. You won't flow as good with cats & LM as you will with ORY & a Hooker muffler. There are several guys on here pushing over 500 RWHP that run the Hooker & love it. They see no power loss thru it & actually lost a little vs a cutout.

Yea, its quiet at ilde & part throttle, but you go WOT & it definetly wakes up. I have had nothing but compliments on mine. I like to be able to hear people talk & understand the radio without it being full blast.

I think I'll end up doing it.. A guy up here at school says his friend has a hooker cat back for sale for $150 installed, and his friend might want my LM. I just have to look around and see how much LM's are going for.

I sold my loudmouth for $150 + shipping. I say do the swap as my mac mids/ory/lm combo with the cam in my sig got very annoying, almost deafening at times inside the cabin. I went with magnaflow because it is stainless while the hooker catback isnt but the hooker catback flows well and sounds really nice so if you like it then go with it, especially for $150 installed!

We can definatly install that Hooker if you want it. I saw it this week and its in great shape. Just sitting in a garage.

I'll let you know bro.
