Default dumps

i searched but nothing specifically answers my question....

ok my exhaust system consists of: LT headers to a tsp ypipe then to a single pipe w/dynomax bullet muffler, then to another y then out with duals. basically a loudmouth setup. but the way the exhaust shop did it was wierd. they didnt fab it up exactly the way i asked. on the final y, its something that goes backwards and divides into one pipe just welded on.
i cant really explain it, a pic would be better. looking at it i would think its restrictive and ive heard it referred to as a "pretzel pipe." lol. im just suspecting it might be partly to do with loss of power and my lower dyno numbers. but im not sure.
also when its cold and it smokes, only one side is putting out most of the smoke....so that tells me there is uneven flow.
anyway i was just thinking i could cut it off on the single pipe, stick on a turndown and make a single dump above the axle, getting rid of the pretzel pipe altogether.
any advice on this? im afraid with my setup it will sound really raspy and too much drone....

You can do it, but why would you want to? It will flow no different that what you have on there right now. I would just leave it. If you don't like the sound, get a catback.

If thats what you want to do then do it. I cant see that pretzel pipe helping you out at all as im sure its just restricting your exhaust. Grab a sawzall and cut that section off before the axle and be done with it.

i know it wouldnt flow any different under normal circumstances, but considering that restrictive pipe i need something different. and a shorter pipe means deeper sound...
