Time for a new MAF... just go with stocker?

Default Time for a new MAF... just go with stocker?

Sup guys. Check engine light came on a week ago. Had a friend scan it and the conclusion is that its time for a new MAF sensor. Makes sense i guess, car just hit 103,XXX miles . Should i just go with a stock replacement? I know that getting an aftermarket MAF isnt really necessary until 500hp. Would a 2002 Z06 MAF be a good alternative, or would that need to get tuned to be effective?

Car needs to pass smog, and im going out of country netx weekend for three months, this needs to get fixed ASAP. Thanks.

stocker will be fine. Z06 MAF will require a tuning update.

Since you have to change I would go with the calibrated Z06 unit from PACEPARTS. I ran it and it requires no tuning updates.

Can you send me a link? I was just at PACEPARTS, and it says the Z06 MAF isnt LS1 calibrated... do i need to buy the wire harness adapter as well?

Oh and i thought of the other question: will any MAF pass CA Smog?

Yes you need the "calibrated" version. Funny I don't see any MAF listed under ls6 performance, it used to be there. There is a shortcut link to ls6 performance on the left menu pane, but I don't see the MAF sensor listed there...I would send them an email and ask for it. Yes you need the wiring adapter as well, which I did find the link for:

Emissions shouldn't be changed, so you'll pass smog just fine (they probably won't even notice), but it's run on the Z06 also which is smog legal.

if the car runs fine it is fine. it may be out of "spec" but who cares. its not like you are going to loose a tenth at the track or anything. the LS1 dosent even need a MAF to run. if you dont belive me go unplug your MAF and drive around town, it wont idle very well but when you are driving around you wont even notice it
