manderl bent over norm.
But in theory crush bent will not flow as good. You may lose a few hp up top, nothing major depending on the bends.
When in doubt always go mandrel, for nothing else other than better piece of mind. That way you know you are not leaving hp on the table.
But some people don't care if they have crush bends, claiming it makes little difference. Personally I wouldn't go crush bends because why theoretically limit your exhaust flow right off the bat, it definately reduces the potential of power.
I can't imagine a stock LS1 losing much power from a crush bent full 3" dia exhaust system. However, that same LS1 would lose a few ponies from a 2.25" crush bent system. I know, because I bought my SS (2nd hand) it had this sorry *** crush bent 2.25" redneck y-pipe. It was truly sad. Since then I have been running a modified MAC 2.5" o/r y-pipe on stock manifolds and it woke the car up pretty good.
I have been debating how much I would really lose if I went to LT, hi-flow cats, with 3" mandrel into a 3" x-pipe reduced down to dual 2.5" crush bent over the axle versus a dual 2.5" mandrel system (both after the x-pipe). Common sense tells me I probably would not see enough of a loss to really care. The dual 2.5" will outflow the 3" i-pipe that most people run anyway. I believe the real differences would be seen between mandrel vs crush bent before the x-pipe, which is just crazy. Just my .02....
