The stock battery is a group size 75, but you can a put a group size 24 into there with a little bit of work wresling it into place. I would make sure your gel cell (Optima red top) has 770 CCA, which is rated at 0* F. The CA is probably going to be about 1000 ,which is rated at 32* F. Personally I am gel cell biased, due to the longevity of the battery life over a lead acid battery.

Tell them what car it's for, it'll fit. Just don't let them sell you a V6 battery, the CCA isn't as high. May not be the case with the optimas, might all be 720, least mine is.

Exide makes a gel cell as well. They are stocked at NAPA for the same price as the Optima's. I have used them on several of my vehicles as well with great success. You can also find some one who handles the Champion line of battery's for gel cells.

Got my optima red top from Orileys, works badass. Car seems to be a bit more responsive, I think the nearly dead battery for so long was starving the electrical system.

Optima red tops are nice. Mount it in the rear and you don't need to worry about fitting it up front

The only differance is the group size of the battery(outside diamention's).

720 CCA= 75 series, smaller and side post only(same as stock)
800 CCA= 24 series, taller & longer--top & side post

Get a lightweight motorcycle battery, a Braille or an Odyssey.

75/35 is fine - 720 is plenty. Mine has side posts, and covers over the top posts. Fits perfectly.

Optima Red 75/35 here...nothing but praise from me. I've drained it 3 times to where it wouldn't even turn my engine over (my fault - I suck at wiring), and each time, I jumped it and it came right back to life. Tested it each and every time it happened, and it tested out great. I've had that battery now for about 3 years, still going strong.

Probably not the norm, but mine has been incredibly resilient, and starts the car every time.

Mines the 75, 720cca I believe. The guy who got it for me told me they only had one size lol. It's got top and side posts. I'll use the top posts whenever I put it in the trunk later on.
