Rotating an LS6?

Rotating an LS6?

The LS6 has been sitting in my garage for months now and it will be months more before I can hope to get it in the Benz and start it.

Will it hurt it to sit still that long? Should I spin it occasionally so that one set of valve springs isn't compressed for months at a time?

I don't have a starter for it yet (anybody want to sell me one??) so I get to use a ratchet - does the LSx turn CW from the front and can I use the big bolt in the harmonic balancer to turn it?

Id leave it alone, plenty cars stay in storage for a lot longer than that.

if you are really worried about it, just back the rocker bolts off untill the spring pressure is releived.

I'm currently deployed for 6 months, I wont be back in the states till May. I loosened the rocker bolts enough to have all valves closed and no pressure on valve springs. did this 2 yr's ago as well, deployed for 6 moths. just for peace of mind since I'm running almost .600 lift on cam and running double springs. I dont think it would hurt anything though. when ur ready to fire it back up re-torque rocker arms, install cover, crank motor to build oil pressure and then crank it over one more time, re-connect harness and fire it up.
