Default Mac Mids + Duals??

Can it be done? I know i will probably have to buy extensions, but will the TSP x-pipe bolt up to the headers? im thinking about trading my adjustable borla cat-back for a true dual set-up. So does anybody know if it will work, and what kind of modifications need to be done? Thanks in advance!

If your talking about the TSP trul duels then no it wont fit mid lenght headers, will bolt right up to any LT's but Im sure a shop would be able to fab something up, but not 100% sure

Not even, it's because LTs come further downstream than the Mac headers. A shop could honestly probably fab something up to make them work if you were really keyed up on it.

The MAcs are shorter than LT's. You would need to fabricate an extention to go from the TSP duals to the headers. Not too big a deal for most exhuast shops. Macs and duals would be a great combination. The duals (with xpipe crossover) would take care of the midrange tq you lose with MAcs.

so what do you guys think i should do? because i was thinking about getting some pacesetters to. which one out of the three would sound better?

1. Keep the macs, and have an exhaust shop modify the x pipe
2. get the pacesetter LT's/ORY and keep the borla
3. Get the pacesetters and trade/sell someone my borla for duals.

Keep the macs and run the duals. You will gain tq over a ypipe setup. It's not worth it to change headers, going through the uninstall, then install, just for a few lb/ft of tq. Unless you want every last bit of hp.

Ideally I would ditch the mids for LTs/Duals. If you keep the mids, get the x-pipe fabbed. ORY and Borla would be a last resort, for me at least. I personally think you'll get a few bonus HPs switching to LTs, considering you already have a cam in there. Good luck.

alright thanks guys. i think im just going to re-do my whole exhaust from the headers back. since it looks like it will only cost me around $100 to do. I can get pacesetters for $280 and duals for $400. and i can sell my mac mids and y-pipe for $200 and the borla for like $400. so i think for $100 its worth it to re-do the whole thing.

well i just talked to my buddy who does emissions testing. He's the one the will be doing it on my car next january. he said he HAS to see cats on the car. he doesnt care if they are gutted or not, but something has to be there. So which is going to be easier, welding gutted cats into a Pacesetter ORY, or TSP x-pipe? thanks guys for the help.

Doesn't matter, both will be the same. IT might actually be easier to weld on cat shells on true duals, since there are 2 distinct pipes, rather than fit it into a ypipe.

hum...didnt even think about that. sounds like it could work though. would i have to get shells from a cat with a 4" diameter to get them to fit on the 3" x-pipe? and is there anywhere that sells just the shells?

Id like to end up with an x-pipe because of not only the performance, but it just sounds sooooo amazing. and i heard the pacesetter y-pipes dont fit all that well.

No one sells just the shells, you need to gut the cats youself, or run real converters. You need 3" cats for the 3" pipes.

IF you can't find shells and since you'd be going through all the trouble of running them to begin with, why not just run cats? I know the blur did it with his car, and I remember hearing clips and it didn't sound a whole hell of a lot different. Plus you'll be on good terms with John Law... if I every get nabbed (or being in NJ, I guess WHEN), I'll throw cats on and run 'em out the back. Just food for thought.

IDK i might end up running them. but here in VA as long as it "looks" like they are there, the cops can do a damn thing. and for emissions all we have is a visual. no sniffer.

Thats what im hoping will happen. it seems like its even going to be cheaper for me to run the duals, since ill be able to sell my borla, and not have to pay an extra $130 for a pacesetter y.

Just to make sure, whats going to be the loudest muffler for the duals. ive listened to the clips on ls1sounds.com but cant really tell a difference. and im guessing the x-pipe will be louder then keeping the borla.

If you couldnt guess, im trying to get it as loud as possible.(I really dont like my neighbors)

Dynomax bullets. Any bullet will be loud, (spirals in sig), but dynomax is damn near a metal shell that looks like it dampens the sound.
