If its for the coolant temp i would do it. Our gauges arent that accurate.

Haha, because that gauge is a dummy gauge in your car.

not all of them. i had 2002 z A4 and when i added the redline additive and a 160 t-stat it would go down to 170ish on the highway in 70 degree weather.
when i did that mod to my 2002 Z M6 and put the SLP radiator in, it show a constant 190 and i have a tuner and have the fans stay on all the time.

i think A4 LS1 guage is accurate and i heard from someone when i worked at a Chevy dealership that the M6 cars temp guage are designed to run up to the normal operating tempts reguardless.

Here's an easy way to install the sending unit and do a TB bypass at the same time. Costs you about $5-6.

As far as the A4 LS1 gauge being accurate, the guy was wrong. Only the '98 cars had working temp. gauges.

That was the one thing I loved about the 98, accurate temp gauge.

I see no reason you can't add an aftermarket gauge. Gauge pods on the pillar seem popular, and out of the way.

if you put a 98 gauge cluster in a 99+ would the temp gauge be accurate?

mine moves just like a regular one and i have a 99 a4. when the car is warming up it progressively moves. and i noticed my temps were cooler after tune and fans were on sooner. I know its not a 98 so it is a dum dum.

i have a 99 and mine gradually moves up too but i have a 160* thermostat and my fans are programed to come one at a lower temp and the needle still chills just below 210*.
