Default Whats the purpose of this???

I have had problems with my exhaust hitting this bracket type thing running from the drivers side to the pass. side and I finally just took it off because I couldn't get it to quit rattling...will it hurt to have this thing off? I don't know whats its called but here are some pics. It looks like something to hold the exhaust up but I don't know. Here's where it goes... And here's what it is....

it's a tunnel brace by the way. but yeah it doesn't really do much. Mine was doing the same thing so I wedged some rubber between it and it stopped the noise but the car vibrated lol. Once I rewelded my exhaust it's good now. I want to get the Spohn driveshaft loop though, it bolts in right there and goes over the exhaust instead of under it.

It's actually a driveshaft safety strap, but everyone calls it the tunnel brace. Works like a DS safety loop, just not as well. Mine took a hike WAY back in the day.

Mine is too. I've been thinking of buying a DS loop, but haven't gotten around to it.

I would have taken it of a long time ago but I was afraid that it was a brace for something...Thanks for the info on it. Now I don't have to listen to it rattle anymore.
