I have had both and speak from experience. The daul/dual combo sounded like *** compared to the 4" shotgun barrell tips that I have now. They rattled and did not provide nearly as deep of a tone as the single larger tips.

When I purchased my LM I looked at the 3.5" slash tips on a camaro and dual/dual tips on a camaro. Hands down for me it was 3.5" slash tips. Though on a TA I would have most likely went with a dual/dual setup.

I don't believe that the tips actually effect sound. Those are just for asthetics!

ive heard from numerous people that the dual tips are alot less raspy with LT's and an ORY, but im not 100% positive on that information.

I agree completely. I bought the 3.5 slash tips in addition to my dual outlet tips from slp and the singles sounded much better. with no cats and stock manifolds the dual outlet=raspy and the singles sound B.E.A.utiful. i'm actually so in love with the sound im debating whether or not to do a cam and head swap because i dont want my exhaust sound to change a bit. it is the best sounding ls1 i have heard and i have many compliments from local fbody owners.

you are incorrect. exhaust tips DO affect the sound. yes they are also for asthetics as well, but they do change the sound/tone of the exhaust note.

as for the poll, neither. i bought mine with the dual/dual and sold them. i put on 4" dia 22" long magnaflow tips on my Loumouth. why so long you ask, so that the entire tip would go under the car/bumper from the side and so that you wouldn't see the 2.5" to 4" transition for a much cleaner (asthetic) look. Plus it really woke the Loudmouth up, click on the links in my sig...

neither... they both look too thin on the lip, and small.
You can't even barely see them from behind like 02BLK and bad6as have proved.

I have a LM, but I switched to polished chrome square tips.

My buddies got Loudmouth with 3 1/2 slash tips on his 2000 pewter WS6 and it looks awsome. I really havent seen a camaro with loudmouth tips but would probably prefere the 3 1/2 tips on that aswell.

I just ordered the single 3.5" for my Formula. From the pics I have seen in this thread they look great even on the TA's. I usually would go the dual/dual route but had them on my 99 TA and they looked like ***. SLP's dual/dual tips IMO look like a $5 exhaust tip. Now Corsa and B&B make some awesome quad tips but I am not spending another $300 on an exhaust to get them. Also Magnaflow is coming out with a new catback for the TA that has some huge quad tips that look awesome but as far as I know you can't buy iy yet.

Whatever dude. Believe what you want to. I have had BOTH on my car and I KNOW that what the SLP tech told you wrong. Ummmm.... YES, the sound does change, its not an opinion, its a fact! The car is less raspy and has a deeper tone at lower RPM's. I'm telling you from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, not from what I heard over the phone. Ask around on this board if you are still skeptical and get some more opinions on wether or not the exhaust note changes when you change the tips from duals to larger singles.

anything hindering the straight flow of the exhaust will create a slightly different sound. period.

Split tips will most definately change exhaust note. Tip size etc. also will.
