I an doing a head and cam install, and i want to drain the block compltely, and flush it all out becuase the graphite gasket got into the water jackets i think, and i don't want **** in my block and cooling system when i put it back together. Where are the plugs located, and how many are there?

Two, one on each side of the block...

LHS, obscured by alternator,
RHS, obscured by AC compressor,

Don't get alternator or starter wet.

Better get yourself a huge honkin allen wrench or allen driver. I planned on doing it also after I got my car. It seemed easy enough when I read through it in the Helm’s manual. Good grief. I am not a double jointed contortionist, so I just drained the radiator; re-filled with water; ran car; and repeated numerous times. I may have used a Prestone flush chemical also. I think at some point, I just stuck a garden hose in the top of the radiator, cracked the drain petcock, and let the car run for about half an hour with the heater on.

By the way, you might have an easier time if you have a bunch of stuff off the engine.

Thumbs up

Here's another link with pics, wrench sizes and the location where the 2 plugs are on the block you need to remove. When I was swapping heads, I removed these 2 plugs and took a shop vac to the 2 water pump inlets on the block and sucked the rest out. Worked great, the cylinders were dry as a bone.
