Default Porting a FAST

Is it really worth the extra $$$$ to port the FAST intake or should I save my money. I have some 1.5 TEA 5.3 heads that are milled to 58cc. I will be running N/A with no Power Adder at all.

What do you thinK?

Should I port THE FAST or just bolt it up?

If you want it ported just do it yourself. There are witness marks in it so you dont go too far, plus it is 3 pieces which makes it easy to get to all the ridges that you want to knock off anyway.

Personally, I would not pay the kind of $$ that people pay to have these ported. I would either port it myself or install it unported. No offense to the FAST porters out there, thast just my personal preference.

Thank You for your honesty on this. This is what I was thinking myself as well.

Vengance does it pretty cheap, I belive like $250. It's easy to do it yourself, as Brad mentioned, but some people don't like to mess with stuff.

Yeah some just dont want to mess with it. I would do it myself because I like to use the Dremel tool, its fun for me. Plus I have some finesse and am confident I wont grind too far.

$250 is not too bad to have it ported though.

So with a Dremel if I just clean & smooth out the inside I can do the same thing I would get charged $250 for then.

Yep exactly, just grind off the few ridges in there that cause turbulance, and then match the intake ports to the intake ports on the heads. Just take your time.

My Fast90 was ported just as you described from the previous owner. I then sent it to vengeance to have a professional port done. I wish i had before and after pics, because there is now significantly more done to it than what you describe as being all you have to do.

There's a whole discussion going on about this topic.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-engineering-tech/581507-fast-90-intake-porting.html

the problem is the people who know how to port the intake properly, beyond a port match aren't saying anything because they're the ones making money off it. Until some of us DIY people take a shot at doing it ourselves and have the resources to do back to back dyno testing it'll be hard to get definitive results.
