Default installed ls6 intake

I got done last night installing my ls6 intake and Im glad that its over. My arms are all scratched up; I think Ill be wearing long sleeve shirts for a few days to cover the battle scars. Overall it went pretty good, I grinded down the fins the underneath of the intake, which took some time, but I did not break the oil pressure sending unit! It is a pain to sort through the lines and wires behind the intake when you can even see back there and your hands can barely reach, but overall not too bad of an install. I like the way my engine bay looks now with the ls6 intake instead of having my old intake plugged, since I trashed the egr stuff.

I ended up grinding all the fins off, I used a dremel for the all the fins in between the foam pieces on each end of the intake, but the intake was still hitting the coolant lines, so I had to remove the foam pieces and I grinded down all those fins as well, then I used a small electric sander to smooth it down. I didnt take any pictures, but if you just grind all the fins off youll be fine. Since I removed the foam pieces I attached some foam weather stripping in there place. I guess all they do is prevent rattling noises?

You can use new o-rings if u want, but mine were in good shape so i didn't, here's a link to the pictures for which fins to grind if you don't want to take the time to get em all: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...49#post6273049 good things to do are to, remove the egr system if your manifold doesnt have the provision for it, make sure to WD-40 the fuel injector o-rings when u swap them over, if you don't, they can tear. Another thing is to take your time when you pull the manifold off, be VERY careful off the connections on the back of the manifold and try hard not to break the oil pressure sending unit - it's $40 to replace

to the original poster - those pushpins that hold the weatherstripping in are vicious, it is advisable to trim them off, makes things alot easier, the first time I took my manifold off they werent clipped, the second time i clipped those badboys as much as I could, made a hell of a difference and doesn't effect how well the wetherstripping stays put

yeah, I thought about removing them all, but was too lazy. I might try trimming them up though.

it made my stall feel a little less loose, i know most of the gains are at higher rpm's but it does feel a little more powerful throughout the powerband. It has been raining most of the day so I wasnt able to test how much better it pulled up top. Long tubes are in the near future, cant wait
