BBK Intake Problem

Default BBK Intake Problem

Just purchased a BBK intake/tb combo (Part number 5005)and have run into several problems, any constructive help would be appreciated. Got the stock Ls1 intake off without a problem, however ran into two problems when I tried to maneuver the BBK intake into place. First it does not sit properly. On the front drivers side the intake is resting on the X-coolant pipe. While the screws with thread through and I could bolt it down, doing so would crush the x-coolant pipe. Secondly, even though i unplugged the oil pressure sending unit, the manifold broke the sending unit (waves at $60). I then took a look at the stock Ls1 intake and noticed that the manifold was purposely molded in a way to accommodate the sending unit while BBK's did not. Thanks for your time guys

i just put mine on and the coolant pipe you can buy some parts are re run it but i just ground down the intake were it hit(not alot) and it seated fine.

Thanks for the advice guys. Motomike,did you not have any problems with the oil pressure sending unit? If not, perhaps I was trying too hard to fit it past the x-coolant pipe and thus broke the sending unit.

no i had no problems. Took us like 4 hours to do the hole thing taking our time.

Sending unit is only about $21 at O'Reilly.

I'm doing the same install but with the professional products manifold. I didnt think I broke mine either, but I happened to see that the gaskets were covering my intake ports and pulled it out and bada bing. There it was just a swinging.

Im gonna put a 90 on it and hopefully that will fix it. Also the clips from my knock sensors that connected to the ls1 pipes where too tall and were holding my intake up.

Just got my sending unit in (read your post too late dlandsvZ28 and ordered from GM). Must say that the replacment unit was made of much stronger plastic. The stock one (2000 z28), was very cheap in comparison, so hopefully this one will have more luck. BBK suggested that i crush the stock x-coolant pipe as well, so I will give it a go, and if it turns out bad (too smashed), I will just order a ls6 pipe.

i broke2 0f the damn things when doing the weiand on mine.the vaccum nipple for the brakes snapped a new one and the hose got the origanal.got mad and put in an autometer gauge.on the coolant lines i made new ones using a double flare tool and high temp 1/4" hose.it looks good and works good as well.i was too cheap to buy the ls6 kit

Intake went on today with no real issues. The stronger plastic version of the sending unit held up just fine. Was originally a little worried about getting a proper seal, but after a lot of torque'ing, it seems that it is down fit and snug. The X-coolant pipe held up very well also. I was expecting to crush it far more than it actually did. Looks like the LS6 coolant pipes are not neccessary (but could make for an easier install/fit).

*edit* forgot to add that the Throttle Body went on rather easily as well. I read somewhere on this forum that a person had to cut their tube to accomodate the new T.B, but in my case, all a quick rebending of the tubes and everything worked out.
