Default Twin Cone's Vs. Lid

Ok, so I have been working on this throughout the winter here, and have searched it several times. I have found a few old threads, but none seem to draw any conclusions or help much. I have been working on a twin cone intake rather than the whole box and lid route. It when finished (if finished) will be basically a volant without the outer box/shroud. I am now really wondering what would be better overall- putting the bottom part of the fctory airbox back on and then getting a lid and just using a delco filter (Not spending for a K&N) or to finish going my route with the two cone filters probably volant replacements? The twin cone route will be like $75 tops, as apposed to the lid for about $100 I believe. Anyone who has a good idea of one vs the other please chime in. I need to finsih this so I can have my car ready to come out when insurance is back on it April 1st!!

-Oh and for what its worth, I have a WS9 Outlaw hood on the car, which is a non WS6

I say go with what you think looks best. I dont think there will be any difference in horsepower as long as the air filters are of adequete size. Some people will argue that your intake air temp will be higher with the open element but I dont see that being an issue with the ramair scoops directly ahead of your filters. You might also consider a used lid. Prolly find one for under a $100 easy.

I've been wanting to do a dual cone intake kind of like the volant but I can't seem to find the three way piece of plastic that would go in the filters and maf. Do you know where to get one because I couldn't find one like that at home depot or other stores like that. But I think the dual intake would do much better especially that you got all that air coming in the front!

Yeah, I got a y-fitting from autozone, and then used a 3" piece of fernco from homedepot. It is a perfect fit onto the maf and y-connector. I hear you though, it took me a lot of tries and looking to find something that would join the two pieces. The cones I had originally didn't end up clearing my hood, so I took them back and that is where I am now-trying to get good opinions if I should go ahead and get another set of cones that will fit, or skip it and get a lid and use my pretty much new delco filter??
