F-Body Pully->Corvette Engine
Now, I have an F-body pully, but reading in a manual I have I read the following:
. On all applications except Corvettes
with a manual transmission, the
balancer can be installed in any
position.
. On Corvette (MfT applications),
mark the crankshaft and balancer
with a paint stick (figure 4-3) prior to
removal to maintain proper position
of any additional balance weights.
If the balancer requires replacement,
install identical service balance
weight pins in the same locations.
Well, as that I"m changing the pully, marking for location isn't an option.
Now, it says to install identical service balance weight pins in the same locations. Do I probaby need to take the two pullies to a dealer or somethign? And, I still wonder about teh marking. Maybe mark it and then try to identify the same location on the replacement?
And one other question: It appears I need a tool that holds the engine from turning so I can get the pully bolt out. Any suggestions on that? (I hope I don't have to get from a GM dealer...everything from them is priced up so high).

But good lord....I can't get the damper bolt loose. I've even stood on and somewhat jumped on the breaker bar. Yikes.
But, I got it off. I got a 30" piece of PVC and put over the breaker, and I got it.
Looking at the one I took off, I determined for sure there are no 'weights' in any of the holes. There are quite a few more than in the fbody balancer I have.
Now, if I can just find out if I need to do something with the fbody one to be sure it is right, I'll be good to go.
