Default Lid Question

Ok, Im installing a new whisper lid, only problem is that I cant get the MAF out of the old airbox. Is there a trick to doing this? I have tugged on it for a while now, and it has started to turn a little but it just wont come out.

Keep twisting and pulling, I had a hell of a time with mine too.

I have it the whole thing off up to the TB, the old bellows are off and its just the airbox left. Its pressed in there I couldnt budge it when I first took it out of the car. I brought it inside to warm up a little hoping that would help, but no luck so far.

I used a hair dryer to warm it up and it came right off.

Yeah, mine was pretty easy too. I took the one off of my suburban and that sucked, but it still came off with some twisting and pulling.

I have been twisting and pulling this for a couple hours, and it has not even budged. I can only twist it about 2 degrees because of the anti twist key pieces on the MAF and airbox. I even had myself on the MAF and my buddy on the airbox and it still has not moved at all. it seemed a little more plyable under heat, but still wouldnt come out.

I think its going to meet the dremel tomorrow after I get home from work.. cause at this point Im sick of screwing with it. I did 4 sets of break pads in less time than I have played with the MAF sensor.. and I still have not taken the air sensor out either.

i had the same problem with mine, i cut the part of the old air box where it connects to the MAF, it came out real easy after that!

Mine took me a while to get out too, it wasn't budging. I ended up using a hair dryer like someone else stated in this thread, that got it considerably looser... that combined with LOTS of twisting eventually got it out.

You could just take the car for a drive. The warmer the plastic the easier it comes apart.
