Default changing pulleys

i've heard and seen that a lot of ppl change out their pulleys, i was just wondering whats the main point behind it, i know this might be a stupid question but i was just wondering. i know my way around a engine but i guess i just don't understand pulley swaps. thanks

It slows how much you turn the accessories thus causing less drag on the motor freeing up some ponies. They're also lighter so that helps too.
