Default rattle from exhaust?

Is it common for an exhaust that has been bolted on to rattle more than if it were welded? Im trying to distinguish whether this noise im getting is coming from the cats, heat shields, muffler, or whatever.

the system is a hooker 3 inch catback with aerochamber muffler.

the rattle happens at idle, it is a sort of raspy idle, almost like something is loose in the pipe (if that makes sense?).

yeah I would say that it's more common to have rattles when it is clamped on vs. welded

do most people weld it at the band clamp where it connects to the y pipe, even when the weld the rest of the system?

If it's clamped properly it wont rattle. Is it the heat shield or a loose clamp. Check it out. Bang the pipe with your hand and see what rattles

I had this same issues a few days ago, get underneath and bang around, I first thought heat shield but found out it was my cat after banging on it. Had them gutted and welded back on, sure I'm not legal anymore, but I'm loving the sound lol.
