EGR provisions in an LS6 intake???...you must have the SLP LS6 intake. Yeah, you'll need to plug that up. You'll also want to have the SES light tuned off after removing the EGR and AIR systems. A Vinci or predator tuner will do that, as will any custom tune. The race headers dont need any plates because theres nothing to block off. They're made for people not running EGR or AIR. If you do get the street ones you can always run the AIR and EGR, and then remove it all later and use the block off plates on the headers. Speed Inc sells all the plates you need.

What do you mean by "street ones"? Isn't there racestyle headers and headers with EGR/AIR???

Well yeah, the street ones would be the ones for your 99. They come with the hook ups for the EGR and AIR. I did that on my 98. I ran my stock LS1 intake and all my factory AIR and EGR no problems for about a year. Then when i put my LS6 intake on I had to remove the EGR stuff, since GM ls6 intakes dont have a hole in the top for the EGR. If your intake still has EGR then its either an LS6 intake from SLP, or its not an LS6 intake. GM did away with the EGR system when the LS6 style intake came out.

Good, for a minute I was thinking that you had gotten ripped off. Do you have a way to tune for the headers? If not then you're going to have a code for the rear O2s, one for the EGR, and one for the AIR.

Well I was going to wait for a tune...a dyno tune that is. Can't I just get 2- 24" extensions and 2 O2 sims? Isn't that what I'll need with these racestyle headers?

Sure that will work just fine. You'll need the extensions to reach the front O2s, thats what I used. I've got a Vinci tuner though, and I just left my rear O2s unplugged, as well as my EGR. All the plugs are dangling with no SES light. The dyno tune will work just fine. Really, I wouldnt waste any money on the sims if you're going to have a tune. That way you wont spend a bunch of money on sims.

If you're worried about plugging that LS6 intake... I'll take it off your hands for you!! (My LTs have EGR provisions, looking to get an SLP LS6 intake anyway...) Got a nice 98 LS1 intake that you can plug up all ya want... until you find an LS6 with no EGR provisions.. ... maybe i can throw some cash your way, too... It'd be a mighty waste IMO to plug that SLP though...

You know, for tuning purposes, you might look into getting a laptop program or a decent hand held tuner AND a wideband gauge. That way you could monitor your ACTUAL air fuel and adjust your fuel mixture to rich or lean depending on where in the country or what time of year it is. Plus if you get a cam later on down the road you wont have to spend the $ on another dyno tune. A few of the tuners, like the Vinci, already have cam programs built into them. Just a thought to save some cash if you're gonna be doing more stuff to the car after the headers. Almost anything you do to it could benefit of having a new tune.

Yeah It would be a waste, but I didn't buy it new...I got it for $300 and that's pretty cheap for the EGR LS6 intake. I also have a 99 LS1 intake You can buy that and have 2...haha...
