Default LQ4 Carb Questions

Ok heres what the setup will be,
Stock LQ4 with a GMPP intake, msd ingnition, Comp springs and about a roughly 580 lift cam. All this will be behind a 6 speed.

So heres the deal. I want to use a 750 Might Demon carb and from what I read this would be the right cfm. I've also seen where people that have a few more goodies done to the engine are using an 850 cfm. I plan on running this for a lil while but I'll eventually do more things to it. I would like to know if I should get an 850 from the start that way I'm only buying one carb. I also need to know if I did that, would it run right and idle correctly with an 850. My instincts tell me I should get a 750 but I figure ya"ll might could help me.

Thanks, Lee

From what I've read, tuning that 850 is hell if you don't have the motor to back it up. I had one on a 350, and it did run and idle, but it needed some good tuning. I think it would work for you, but I'm no expert. Hope that helps some.

I think u should stick with the 750cfm. A few more goodies and its still usuable. I think an 850 is over kill unless your racing all the time. If you need more fuel out of the 750 you can just change jetting. I'm fairly new to carbs, but the 540BBC in my dads chevelle came with a holley 870 from World.

You might want to think about the 830 with annular boosters. Gives great throttle response and has 4 corner idle adjustment.
