Default Pinging?

Ok I was on my way home tonight and I noticed at low rpms that it had a small pinging noise coming from the engine compartment. Sounded like it was towards the back side of the motor. I know that sometimes you can get bad gas that will cause pinging but the last time I filled up was a BP station which I thought would be a good choice and it was the only thing around. But what else could be causing this pinging noise. It's in the low rpms and happens when I give it a little punch on the gas. Please help. Car has 58,000 miles.

No the fuel filter hasn't been changed since I've had it. Bought it with 54,300 miles, so I don't know if the previous owner ever changed it. But I filled it back up today after running it down and noticed that the pinging is practically gone. But I was thinking about changing the fuel filter soon anyway.

Change the fuel filter ASAP. Also have you changed plugs and wires? Pinging basically sounds like somebody rattling a set of keys under your dashboard.

Yeah I know exactly what your talking about and no I haven't changed out the plugs or wires but I thought the plugs were good for like 100,000 miles. I mean I was gonna put in some NGK's when I did the headers along with MSD wires but I may ahead and do the plugs and wires soon if ya'll think I need to.

Seems like a run of crap gas. I agree with thesecretformula, new plugs n wires are never a bad thing. And the fuel filter...not likely the previous owner ever changed it.
