Default Knocking on floor.

i just installed a ati pulley 10% underdrive and a set of pacesetters and the ORY pipe.

took the car out for a test drive and im getting a weird knock near my feet on the floor by the pedals. You can feel it from both sides, no matter were your sitting, i think its my ypipe hitting something. But the pipe seems firm and tight.

any ideas.? how would i fix the prob? i need help. like i said it seems like the pipe is tight.

its the y-pipe banging, does it when your on the throttle right? it may seem firm and there may seem to be clearance when you get under to look at it but under throttle with stock or soft motor mounts the engine is allowed to twist due to the soft mounts and the y-pipe hits on the floor. install polyurethane mounts and it wont happen anymore.

had the same thing happen on my Camaro, got poly mounts and the banging was gone.

Mine turned out to be the tranny mount from several hard launches when it was nearly stock. I guess 1.6's will do that for ya in a stock car.

Yea, if you are punching it and you get more of a BANG under the car, you have a broken tranny mount. If it isn't as loud it's probably the y-pipe. You said the y-pipe doesn't feel like it could move that much, so I'm going to go with....you have a broken tranny mount.

Climb under there and check it out. Try pushing on the edges of your trans pan...you'll be able to tell if your mount is shredded. Mine was torn clean through.

Got the car back. Poly mounts fixed it. So nice to be able to go past 3000 rpm without the loud bang.

Too much of a coincidence not to be your Y pipe after just putting it on. Poly mounts will fix it, mine did it badly. The downside of the banging is it can set the knock sensors off, pull timing, and lose a lil power. Here: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=3&pcid=54 scroll about 2/3's down the page and there is a bumpstop hanger to stop the banging for a cheap fix.

Youll know the bang. With mine. In 1st gear if I tried to accelerate quickly you will hear the bang. Mine came from the drivers side of the y pipe. I think the money for the poly's is one of the best bang for buck fixes.
