How does air temp effect air/fuel ratio? I was running slower mph as the air got colder last night. How does colder/warmer effect the air/fuel ratio? I have a-tap but is so crash happy I hate using it.

That could have been the problem but detonation usually comes from low octane fuel not burning effeciently enough..... that isn't the answer to your question but might give you another idea to think about

Re: How does air temp effect air/fuel ratio? Hey Josh, yeah it was but that was on every run. I didn't mix in any race fuel like I usually do. And I am not even 100% sure it's detonation, it's more like it just cutting out around 6K for a split second. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
So does colder air lean out the air/fuel or vice versa?

I am sure about the computer advancing the timing like 2* when it gets colder.... and that is why ls1's run better when the weather is cold(or at least that is what I have been told by a local dealership) I been on the bottle so I need to ease out so I dun start talkin ish to people!!! Re: How does air temp effect air/fuel ratio? With colder air, you're going to need more fuel because you're making more power. I would think that your a/f ratio would be around the same since the PCM is targeting a certain value. Can someone verify this? Providing this is true, it would only go leaner if your injectors were maxing out. FWIW, I've seen a drop of just under 2 MPH from KR at the track.
