Help me build a custom y-pipe Hey guys, I just got a set of Grotyohann's yesterday (damn they're pretty!) and I need to fab up a custom y-pipe. Has anyone here ever done this (besides driving the car to the exhaust shop with open headers, lol) ?
I'm looking at the pics from ponycars.net, and was wondering if anyone can tell me exactly how many mandrel bends, how much strait pipe, etc I need to buy to get the job done. I won't personally be doing the actual welding, my friend owns the welder and is pretty good with it.
We'll be doing the fab job right after we install the headers and still have the car in the air.
Ok, here's the 2 pics I'd like to duplicate:
Can anyone help me out? It looks to me like in addition to the flowmaster collector, I'll need at least four 45 degree mandrel bends.
What do y'all think?

I think a custom y pipe like that would be really hard to make without a pipe bender, etc.

Re: Help me build a custom y-pipe I custom made my own y-pipe for the hooker long tubes. I had two factory catback exhausts from a pair of 95 Z28's. These are 2 3/4in. stainless steel. The bends I needed were there. I didn't use a flowmaster collecter so it might not be the absolute best flowing y-pipe but it gets the job done. My car only has bolt ons and I picked up 3mph in the 1/4mi.
