Default 1-7/8 Headers??

Does anyone make headers with 1-7/8" primaries for 99 or similar year model LS1's? I know there are 1-3/4". Wondering if there is anything bigger??

TIA,
Kyle

Not sure if I'm getting them or not yet. I was wanting to see what was available. I want to get all of my options listed out before I decide on what I'm doing...

Where is a good place to get the grots? I've heard getting them direct can be a PITA?

ARE may have some 1 7/8 (when they finally get delivered). Nick was planning to buy an extra set or two as part of the GP he did.

To all potential 1 7/8" header customers keep in mind this size tube is more rpm specific than cubic inch specific. I built a 406 small block that dynoed 636hp at 6500 rpm with 1 3/4" tubes, we tried bigger primary headers and it picked up 10 hp but traded torque at lower rpm. Later i had a chance to try bigger headers in car and it ran no better at the track. My point is even with stroker LS1's you might stay with 1 3/4" unless you plan on real high rpm's, Dyno results arent as important as track times.

My question is, if I do get 1-7/8 Grots, where in the hell can I order them from? ARE? Anywhere else?

I think thunderracing had some a while back. I don't know if they are still ordering, but when I wanted some before christmas they quoted me 5-8 weeks.

LS1Kyle, sorry my post didnt answer your question,
i guess trying to keep you from making a purchase mistake isnt as important as helping you find too big a header.

Don't take what I said the wrong. I'm not irritated at you guys and I really appreciate your input!! I was just asking where to find them. Every link I find for Grots goes to some unrelated web site. That's what I'm irritated about. Plus I've heard to not order from Roger directly...

Thanks again!!!!

I WOULD NOT spend the green for 1 7/8" headers for a 346 cubed LS1.

I WOULD NOT deal with Rodger for anything other than to maybe ask the time of day.

1 7/8 are too big for most LS1's

Grotyhans personality/customer service is acerbic at best. (IMO)

Good luck finding your headers.

I like the Dynatech stepped headers (1.75 to 1.875) for my larger cubed motor - had very good results with those. I would have to think, though, that they *might* be too big for a 346 cube motor, though I am not sure if the stepped design helps with that.

I beleive that the 1 7/8's will be good on an aggresive heads/cam combo with stock cubes. That is the reason that I'm getting them and they weren't any more expensive than 1 3/4 because of the GP thru ARE. I'll let you guys know the results when I get them.

Didn't LG say that Nascar runs 1 3/4" long tubes?

Someone said this, if 1 3/4" is good for 358 cube motors making 750 or so HP then I'd not argue with the NASCAR builders.
