MAF vs Throttle Body

MAF vs Throttle Body
Does it do me any good to upgrade to a 85mm MAF if my Throttle Body is only 52mm. Common sense would say the Venturi Effect would prevent all of the available air molecules to back up as they wait their turn to get thru the more narrow throttle body. "Whoa Brother, wait a minute. All you air molecules can't get thru here at the same time". The old cliche says "A chain is only as strong as its' weakest link and an air intake is only as wide as its' throttle body". Did I just coin a new cliche? Cliches' ain't that easy to coin Bro.

Re: MAF vs Throttle Body
Your TB is not a 52mm unit; that's for the LT1 guys. Patrick G dyno-tested a ported MAF vs. a stock MAF and lost 0 HP on the dyno by going to the stock MAF. Keep in mind this is a heads/cam car that dynos over 400 RWHP. My point is that I think a bigger MAF is a waste of time. People are seeing gains from porting the ends, but it's coming from the added timing and leaner a/f ratio, NOT from the added airflow. So, regardless whether you're running the stock TB or a fully-ported one, I'd stick with the stock MAF. Pull the screen out if you like, but keep the stock ends. It will flow plenty for ya.
