HELP! Big time.
I am lengthening my crankshaft positioning sensor and I need to know the color and position of each wire out of the plug.
This has already burned once and I had a generic Delco plug wired to the blue, yellow, and green wires.
Unfortunately in my haste I cut before marking the wires, I know stupid , but I just need to know the colors of the wires in sequence with the clip side up.
Middle is yellow, I believe, please anyone with a rolling chassis or that has their starter out right now.
I'm frozen until someone who knows or can check for me replies.
Thanks.

Re: HELP! Big time.
I just put MAC headers on my car and I noticed that the positive starter wire, O2 wires, and the crankshaft position sensor wires are very close to one of my tubes on the passenger side. I taped the starter wire up with special heat reflective tape and a zip tied it away as far as I could from the header tube trying to get it back far enough. I am not sure I did.
How much space was between the black convoluted tubing and tube? Did you try heat tape? I think you did but maybe I am getting you confused with someone else. I find it hard to believe very few people have problems with this.
Here is the schematic out of my 1999 Service manual.

Re: HELP! Big time.
Wizkid you're awesome.
In a nutshell, my whole harness was not installed right when I had my H/C put in. Consequently it burnt the CPS wires completely.
Since then it has been slightly cooked twice.
The last time I used not only heat blanket wrap but reflecta shield tape over that. Still cooked.
So now I am routing down the fender well towards the a/c line and back down along the motor mount, way far away from those tubes.
Your pic was exactly what I needed.
Thanks so much!

Dave, you are welcome. I know how it is when you "need" a reply quickly and are in the middle of an install.
Good luck on your re-route.
Can you clear up one thing for me, when you said

I am unsure how all that conglomaration of stuff could get moved so badly. How close is your starter wire (red one) to the header tube?
Thanks,

Re: HELP! Big time.
It was the three Cps wires that were burnt all the way thru.
When the motor went back in, the protective heat wrap that was on there got shifted around backwards so it wasn't protecting anything.
And unfortunately, thru oversight, the bare wires were just coming across the bottom of the header tube.
So when that happened I wrapped the cps wires along with the other three sensor wires so that heat would not kill the wires.
Unfortunately the cps wires seemed to be the most sensitive to heat.
The worst part was that it would happen at any time once the motor was up to temperature...just idling at a light and the engine stops with a check gauges light on.
Hopefully this does it, third time should be the charm.
Big Thanks to you Eric, and PSJ for hooking me up with his friend Russ.
