Default Do ORP's make all LS1's smell bad?

This next month my Hookers will be in. I will probably have a custom Y made, tired of waiting. If I don't run cats will it make my car smell bad? Is it a rich condition that causes it, and can a MAFT fix it? The concern about the smell is what make me think I want to get cats, but I really would rather not have them.

Cats are on the Car to keep all that excess crap from spittin outa your car. without them (using off road pipes) yeah its gonna smell bad.

If the smell bothers u, just put some high flow cats on it. if you can live with the smell (which most can) then just leave the orp's on

I haven't noticed a difference. On startup, yes, I can smell some more unburnt fuel because my car tends to run really rich when it's in open loop. But once the sensors kick in, she's fine. I haven't noticed any offensive odors, and neither has my wife...

Well, I know a rich condition can cause the unburnt fuel to smell. Does removing cats cause the engine to run richer? Because if that's so, I can fix that with a MAFT. I wouldn't mind a little smell on startup, but not all the time. I've been around hot rods that smell so bad it makes your clothes stink, and heard a few LS1 guys complain about that as well. That wouldn't be too cool when I have a chick out on a date. Are there any members here with an ORP and good a/f mix whose car doesn't smell? If I don't hear of one then I will get cats this week.

The name of the shop is Columbia Muffler Shop or Muffler Shop of Columbia (I can never remember exactly). It's on Huger St. about 1.5 miles south of the Blossom St./Huger St. intersection (right at the McDonalds). That's where I go to get all my exhaust stuff done. I've seen them bend a whole catback system and what I saw was some good work. In fact, that's where I'm going to get my custom 3" catback made at. The MACs are my next big project. It's still going to be awhile before I get them on though (a month or so). I keep buying goodies at great prices and then never have enough money to put the goodies on. I just got a T1.

I've smelled Jon's (NOBR8KSS) car and he was running really rich at the time. Personally, it didn't smell all that bad to me. In fact, I have the same smell (just about 1/3 as bad) with just running my cutout. I was concerned about this too, but after I smelled his car I figured I could handle it on an everyday basis. And the good thing is you can always add cats later.

Hey, would you happen to know a good exhaust shop that could make me a Y? ATS is going to put in my Hookers but they don't fabracate pipes. BTW, when are you going to get the Mac's on? That will be sweet on your TA.

Yeah - ORs can make your car smell not so great. You should be around a 422 with big cam on cold startup *cough* *cough*

On the other hand, the only people who get to smell it are those eating my exhaust

And if you let your car run in a closed garage for a few minutes with OR pipes you will have a most excellent day at work.
