Just don't leave them on after you turn the car off and run your battery down. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> That is my only piece of advice. I hear the install is straight foward.

The install was smooth a Mobil One <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Now the beast can run a little cooler this summer. Thanks for the tip Eric <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Great news!! Did you take any pictures and do a writeup? IU could use an install like that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I had no problems whatsoever. It'll take you about 90 minutes to do if you've never done it before. Here's what I did...

Use the factory boot behind the computer to get the wires inside the car. The ECM has to be removed to gain access to this boot. I removed all the black tape around the boot, pulled it up where I could get my hands on it, then used an awl to force the mouth of the boot open (be careful not to snag or tear the insulation on the existing wires going through the boot with the awl). I cut that huge connector off of the end of the switch, then fed the wire through the boot. Be sure to reposition the boot in the hole in the firewall, then pull the wires taut so they'll sit where you want them to be in their final position. Then pull the boot back off, seal it with some electrical tape and put it back. Reinstall the ECM, splice the switch back to the wire. I just left out the connector that SLP provides, it was too big to get inside the firewall without making a new hole, and I'm not too thrilled about making holes in the firewall that weren't there to begin with, especially when it's simple to use the existing firewall access holes. I used a small piece of insulated shrink wrap to seal the splice in the wire under the dash.

Now choose where you want to mount the switch. I put it just under the e-brake so that I couldn't accidentally hit it or turn it on without realizing. And it's out of plain view. 99% of people who get in my car don't know the switch is there. Good luck...

Has anyone had problems with switches burning out? I want to run the fans on high but I need a better switch. Any suggestions?

zeco it take the wires to ground if you attached
to the PCM.. 2001 pin 42 on blu i think put it
to ground and the low speed comes on.. there is
another one to get the high speed fans.. same
thing ground it and it comes on..

Last week at the track I had a glitch and the
fan switch did not turn on the fans.. I had
to turn car off then on and it fixed itself..

fan mod is great at track.

I THINK the 2001 pinout is the same,
but anyway the 2000 pcm pinout for fans:
The Low Speed Cooling Fan Relay Control wire is dark green, and is (blue) pcm pinout #42 on 2000 models.
The High Speed Cooling Fan Relay Control wire is dark blue, and is (red) pcm pinout #33 on 2000 models.
Just the dark green to ground is low speed, both dark green and dark blue wires to ground for high speed.
I'm using a 10A switch I think, but I'm sure it's way overkill.
