headers and exhaust??
headers and exhaust?? will adding long tube mac headers and off road y-pipe and 4in mufflex exhaust help or hurt a basicly stock engine. i know it will sound wicked <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> , but is it going to hurt the motor?

Plan on having plugs ans wires done at the same time, ans do this http://ls1info.com/article.php?sid=85 air mod first!! you can call paceparts.com for the kit. ITs real easy to do. Trim the gaskets to clear the drivers side's lip and double stack them. You'll see what I mean. ASK if you have ??'s
Re: headers and exhaust?? well the exhaust got done. LT headers off road y-pipe and 4 inch flowtech exhaust. the car is running like sh%t! it wont fire over 4000rpm, it falls on its face. it wont hardly idle, it wants to kill itself then it catches back up. it also thew a SES light.
whats the deal? i am thinking it has lost too much back pressure or some thing, or fried an O2 sensor or something. it has a wicked exhaust leak too. my buddy is thinking of takeing the car to have 3 inch pipe put in place of the 4 inch to give it a little more back pressure.

Re: headers and exhaust?? Its absolutely NOT caused by the loss of back pressure.
You have screwed something in the system, maybe you burned some wires? Didn't connect them all? Get that SES light scanned with ATAP or some other diagnostics tool.
Who did the install? If you have a "wicked" exhaust leak, maybe the installer wasn't experienced or skilled enough to do it properly.

Re: headers and exhaust?? I ran my car with open exhaust manifolds once. It idled just fine with no stalling, etc. Lack of back pressure is NOT your problem here. Probably loose, disconnected, damaged plug or wire.
