Default Headers the age old debate

I am going for all bolt-on till later in the year (more money) I see a lot of #s posted and feel with the new Corsa cat-back I have sitting here (ready to go on) I would be silly not to do headers and ORY-pipe, but I see way to much debate on the right way to go here I was ready to buy the FLP today but then read several post about issues that FLP seems to be avoiding addressing and with the price they get for the setup I am not sure FLP is going to give me that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know your vendor will stand behind the product. So that leaves TSS and MAC but the MAC seems to be what everyone buys because they are looking for something better (I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS TWICE)I tend to buy quality over price %99.999 of the time the problem I see is that quality is to subjective when it comes to LS1 headers.

I want FIT not bumps bangs or rattles ( I hate a rattling car)

I want headers that DO NOT LEAK, exhaust leak is as bad as a rattle.

I want rust protection I will jet hot if need be.

Can anyone make me happy?
Does this product exsist?

All the commonly used LS1 headers have had an issue here or there. That’s how it is with just about every mod.

The header issues are part of the reason why I don’t have headers yet. I’m going to be cammed next week and I’ll still have stock manifolds. Soon after that I’ll have heads and still have stock manifolds. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

But, I’m thinking very seriously about the new Bassani mid lengths. Bassani is known for very high quality, and the issues that come with LTs won’t be an issue with these as they are like macs when it comes to tucking up under the car well. I’m guessing that the Bassani’s will prove to be just as good a fit and just as good of gains as Macs, but without the quality sacrifice. I also like the look of the Bassani Y pipe. Seems that the Y collector will flow very well.

Grotyohann 1-7/8th's long tubes here. They were installed by me and a couple of my friends about a month ago. I have no floorboard-banging, no ground clearance problems (stock ride height/suspension minus boxed BMR LCA's), install was a breeze after some minor massaging of the Grot y-pipe, and the car is now taking full advantage of the cam and other mods. It is shocking how much more powerful the headers have made the car. Don't let them tuck the y-pipe up too close to the car if/when you have an exhaust shop weld things up for you.

I was scared about the issues you speak of as well... but decided to go ahead with them as my car isn't a daily driver. I guess I lead a charmed life... I have no problems with my setup.

macs with ORP were done a few weeks ago. Love the set up and value! But here's what to expect, have plugs and wires done at the same time. Otherwise count on the car missing when its done. Do the air restrictor mod first, $20 takes 10 mins. These are almost always done usually after they have headers though, so do the prep work. The shop should give you a deal on plugs/wires. I was out the dorr with all that installed under $1000! Email me if you want specifics on anything.
