ASR problems (can't turn off or on) light is always on??

Ok so here is the problem, I had to put my car back to stock again and all is well. She's running like a champ, so I would have to say it's a tune. I don't know about other A4's but mine didn't like the 90/90 at all without a tune anyway. I do have one small problem: for some reason or another ASR isn't engaged nor will it engage. Seems like I disengaged the ASR while I was doing the swap!!! Oh and yes it was working fine before I started all this stuff.
Thank-you in advance for the help!!!

What is ASR?

you should be happy.
the asr is a worthless option on these cars.

The same thing happened to a customer of mine at work when he installed an LS6 intake. His car was even setting codes for the ASR motor. He adjusted the cables and says it started working fine after that. it may be worth a shot.

From what I can tell, you'd be adjusting the cruise control cable from the cruise servo (which has the cover with ASR molded into it) to the throttle body.

This is from Dealerworld under "cruise control cable adjustment with RPO code NW9"
1. Lift the adjustment lock button up.
2. Pull the cable adjustment slider rearward until all slack is removed from cable, but without opening the throttle.
3. Push down the cable adjustment lock button until it snaps and locks in place.

Important: Ensure that cable is correctly adjusted to avoid excess slack which will cause degraded cruise and traction control performance and inability to achieve wide open throttle. If cables are set too tight the throttle will not fully close.

4.Ensure that the locking tabs are secure on both sides.

Sorry i cannot provide illustrations, they didn't transfer when I copy/pasted this.

Hope this helps. I could be way off.

Z28_SIMMONS Apr 24, 2007 03:26 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you change the tire size from the stock size when doing a tune, it permanently turns the ASR off. That's what my Predator manual says.

Hope that sheds some light.

I'm working on getting a code scanner.

I have the little SLP box that always turns the ASR off. Never knew the previous owner put that on the car until I mounted up my shift light.
