Question Intake out...Broken Hose ?!?!?!?!?!? (HELP)

I ripped out my EGR and AIR systems, but I noticed that an extra hose came out with the AIR hoses....The hoses come out of each of the valve covers, then they both go to a collector, then go back into the front of the intake manifold....Here are the pics:

On the left you see where the plastic hose has been cracked in half.......and toward the back, the piece that came out was going in between that melted rubber piece on the left, then it went over to the driver's side valve cover and went in there.....

This is the melted section toward the rear passenger side.....

This is where it went into the driver's side valve cover.....

and this is where the crack in the line is, going up towards the front of the intake manifold....

Do you have any idea what this line does?? What the part number is?? Where could I find it??

I am in a pinch for time, and any help is greatly appreciated!!!

-James

The rubber melted due to hot oil int he pipe. Its the PCV system, and you will find some oil in it. Some cars have a catch can fitted but that only reduced the oil found in the intake.

What i done is took of all them hard plastic hoses, and found some rubber hose that can hold a vacuum, and made a t-junction at the back. All still working fine, may save you come bucks doing it this way.

Yep, that would also sort it out.

However some people would say that horsepower is to be gained from having the rockers in a vaccum. I'm not sure how true this is, i was talking to a guy that runs pro-street cars and this came up in conversation.

It would be cheaper and you wouldnt have any oil in your intake.

Have you had any problems? Is there a good writeup that you used?

Just be careful if you use a breather since your oil life will decrease and you'll have to change oil more frequently

That is one of the reasons why was thinking about just biting the bullet and paying out the extra cash for the PCV pipe. The only bad thing is I have to special order it through GMpartsdirect for $89....and then wait....

All you do is cap of the two valve cover ports, the one behind the throttle body, the one on the throttle body and get a breather cap or make your own. I have had zero problems. Just change your oil every 3k and youre fine.
