crank bolt
crank bolt Well on was on my way of taking off the crank pulley for a cam swap and realized that i have a problem. the crank bolt is stuck. i was flexing a craftsman 1/2 breaker bar about 2 inches trying to get the bolt loose. so my buddys uncle works at the local bus garage so he grabed me a 3/4 air impact. we got the bolt to turn 2 turns out then it stopped turning. turned it back in and tried to bring it back out and it went the same 2 turns and stopped. What could cause this and why?
If it has a cam in it already, and you didn't install it, my guess is that someone didn't install it with the correct tools and buggered up the threads. Spray is liberally with PB Blaster and work it slowly back and forth with a hand wrench since you now have it loose. Go slow, the goal is to get it out and fix the threads rather then having to drill it out.
