Default Y-Pipe Install

Will I need new gaskets for the cat outlets when I install the SLP bolt-on Y-pipe (for '01-'02 models)?

For the 2000-2002 models it's a bolt-in.

From http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...yid=1051#T1424

"LS1 Y-Pipes

Replace your flattened-out factory y-pipe with a new 2.5" mandrel bent one from either Borla or SLP Performance. Both y-pipes are constructed of stainless steel for a long life. 1998-1999 models require welding; 2000-2002 models will bolt in place with factory hardware."

No gaskets needed. There is a rounded end on teh cat-end and a flared end on your y-pipe that mate up to each other and seal when you tighten the flange. If you're worried about exhaust leaks you can use some of the exhaust gasket stuff that comes in a tube. Mine sealed by itself with no goop.

Since you have a 2002, it's a piece of cake. I just put the SLP Y-pipe in plus the SLP Dual/Dual in my 2000 WS6 without any problem. Try & find someone with a lift, it'll make it a whole lot easier (and safer) to do it that way instead of on ramps or jackstands. Just check the clearance on the drivers side once you get it one. Since it's no longer flattened, it'll be lower. Mine hangs down quite a bit, but not enough to scrape....at least so far. Great mod, recommend it to everyone that has an LS1. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
