Default custom header time long tubes or short tubes?

Ok, I have finally decided to build some custom headers. What are the advantages to the different lengths of primary tubes? Should I go for short or long. How long is long?

thanks

In building custom headers, the only advantages between long or short runners is fitting them to the engine/chassis. The ideal runner length is determined by intended RPM of peak HP/TQ. Longer runners boost mid torque, while shorter runners boost upper HP. (requirments of engine setup). Runner diameter is determined by intended HP output, higher HP engines require bigger diameters. Then you throw in collector size. All of this is based on positive\negative wave pulses.

If you need a recommendation, feel free to e-mail me with your engine specs.

I would say long tubes about 34" would be right around what you are looking for. Depends upon what else you have on your engine? I would say longer tube headers are better thatn shorties but the diameter of the tubes is going to be different for different combos.

Is it running yet 70LS1?

We've been down this road on this Board before.....depending on your objectives the "trick" header/exhaust system will be 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" stepped primary full length headers with Merge Collectors, "X" pipe and true duals (3" if over 400+HP).

length and diameter's.

These cars respond well to extra breathing room. I would go for long tubes if possible and or cost effective.

If you run into clearence issues, you may want to look into having a 00 & up set of manifolds extrude honed. They flow very well from the factory.. would be very good with a extrude hone pass.
