Bassani Headers, Test & Tune @ E-Town
Sooo... My best was the exact same as my previous best (13.77) with the temperature at 91 degrees and 30% humidity, with me spinning the all-season tires.
I'm wondering just how much the heat and humidity affected my runs... bumped into another guy at the track who, despite a new torque converter, ran the same times he previously ran as well.
Only got three runs in.. one run had a .600 R/T but the spinning made the 60' time = 2.278, with an E/T of 13.77 and mph of 102.78
Prior to that (without headers and much cooler air) the best run had a .859 R/T, a 60' of 2.245 and an E/T of 13.77 w/ the mph of 103.41
I feel that *todays* best could have been in the 13.3-13.4 range, but the heat and lack of traction defeated any gains I realized from the headers.
One strange "post-header install" thing- when I get to a stoplight & engage the clutch my rpm's stay around 1200rpm until I am just about stopped, and then it idles down to normal idling. Could the new plugs or headers have the car "relearning", etc? I haven't gotten any SES lights or anything..
Anyhow... I'm looking forward to running better at SLP day.
I still have not installed mine yet. Will have to wait a couple more weeks and install it with my stroker.

i can't believe you went racing. cool. but that 90 degree weather definately killed your times. maybe up to .5 second.
and when you give us your times, you can keep the reaction time out; it doesn't affect ET
with sticky tires and good driving, you'll be flying into the 12's and
talk to you later.
Are you running the Bassani's with or without the POS cats they come with? If you're running the cats, take them off and expect to gain 1 to 2 mph trap speed...

Hey- I'd like to take all the smog crap out, not just the cats.. but it ain't gonna happen. I'm happy that there's no banging, no codes, etc.

If you want to have cats in at all times get a pair of Random Techs or Carsounds and you’ll still have gains. The Catco cats that Bassani uses are the biggest POS cats ever made. Stock cats would flow better. I used a Catco cat on my old ’89 Formula when the stock one got clogged, and the car seemed to run better with the clogged stock cat than the catco!! I’ve known a few guys who’ve had noticeable gains from ditching catcos. They are junk.
The best thing would be to buy the off-road Y-pipe and weld in some RTs or CSs if you insist on running cats. Personally, I will only be running cats for the 45 minuets that it takes to get tested and get home. The rest of the time I’m all about the ORY!!
Honestly, Bassani is a GREAT quality header (I’ve seen the LS1 header and I’m very impressed), so I can’t understand why they insist on using garbage cats...
