Cutout caps to adjust exhaust note?

Cutout caps to adjust exhaust note? Has anyone made cutout caps with different hole configurations to try and adjust their exhaust note?
I currently have SLP LT's with cats, SLP dual/dual exahust and a cutout. With the cutout uncapped, it sounds really good at lower rpm's, but obviously gets very loud at higher rmp's and very raspy in my opinion. With it capped, it's much too quiet for my tastes.
I've considered making caps for the cutout to try and adjust the sound of my exhaust, but I'm not sure if this will help much? Has anyone tried this and did it help much?
