Mellowing a "Loud Mouth"?

Mellowing a "Loud Mouth"? I had a LM on my old car. I got use to it quickly, but could never take the fire crackers in the pipe sound when letting off the throttle after a hard run. So I swapped the resonnator with a Dynomax Bullet and it help but the volume still made every piece of plastic in the car vibrate. My wife and I finally got rif of the LM.
Now I'm buying a used LM for my new ride many because it's a hell of a deal(good price) for 3" SS system.
I want to mellow it and turn the volume down a notch. I don't mind loud, just hate obnoxious exhaust sounds.
I want to keep the high flow of the LM but put some type of mufflers in line.
Can some recommend from personal experience, the set up that worked best for them?
I've searched and nothing significant was found.

Re: Mellowing a "Loud Mouth"? All of the Loudmouth users who thought it was too loud went with what you used...I really haven't seen any other type of muffler used, you could always try one of those Borla Xr1 mufflers.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Mellowing a "Loud Mouth"? I'm going to use a custom made Chambered Muffler. I ordered it from a company called Sweet Thunder. They make chambered mufflers.The good thing is it cost me less than 60 bucks! Click on this thread to follow whats been happening.

Re: Mellowing a "Loud Mouth"? I went with the Borla XR-1 5" round, 3" in/out in place of the "resonator". Has a lot better tone, IMO. Have been on a 400 mile round trip and it didn't get on my nerves. If your running headers it -might- still be too much noise. Everyone likes something different. :shrug: If you're lowered it may not give the clearance you need w/o some careful fitting.
