whats the advantages of not running a M.A.S.???

whats the advantages of not running a M.A.S.??? ive seen people on here with M.A.S.'s and without. what does it do to take it off? any power increase or what? wont the computer throw a code or something? just wondering
Are you talking about the MAF? (Mass airflow sensor)? I'm not running one right now. Basically the computer will use the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) that's on the intake manifold along with other tables to calculate how much fuel to inject. It's called speed density tuning when you do it that way. It's supposedly for better throttle response and to prevent cam reversion for the guys that have large cams. I don't know about any power gains from not having one but I'm sure that having a 4" pipe going straight to my throttle body flows better than having to go through the MAF first. Oh and yes it will throw a code if you just take it off.
