Default 2nd quietest catback????

i know a stupid question, but i finally found someone to fab up a off road y-pipe for my headers. so i decided, for now, to run a catback system. so i know the dual/dual is really quiet. what's the next step above that? anybody got a hooker catback behind some long tubes and no cats? how's it sound? thanks a ton.

Chris

how about a SLP 2 out da left? i'd be interested in one of those

Most any catback is quiet when compaired to the LM or the braxton (gmmg).

I suggest a Whisper, 2OTHL or the Hooker catback is a great setup for the $$$.

I was running a Hooker catback on my car (longtubes, no cats, heads/cam) and it was very quite IMO. No resonance in the 2000-2500rpm range. But I think it is slightly louder then the SLP dual/dual or 2OTL.

I also think the ATR catcback sound similar to the Hooker.

The Hooker catback has one of the best sounds I've heard from an LS1, but it's definitely louder than a dual/dual! I had the Hooker on my T/A for a while, and it was a little loud w/ headers and no cats. It wasn't enough to annoy me, but the people in my complex hated me when I was still in school and had 8:00 classes. A quiet muffler that's very comparable to the dual/dual is the Dynomax. My friend has one on his '94 Z28, and it's pretty stealthy. B&B is pretty quiet as well, but they're expensive. The cheap catbacks work and sound just as well, sometimes better.

You could always get a dual/dual and then drill holes in it to make it louder. Want it louder, drill more holes. I'd drill them where they'd be hard to see, like the side of the muffler the faces foward when installed. Very ghetto but it works...

Maybe check into the new Gale Banks catback?

Good choice with the Hooker, I was going to swap out my Loudmouth for the Hooker, but am getting a Borla XR-1 Oval muffler welded in the rear and replacing the resonator with a straight through pipe and a 3" cutout. Right now with the Grots/ORP and Loudmouth it is LOUD, I've actually kinda gotten used to it and like it a lot, but I don't want any tickets

Well, one cat back that often gets left out is the Bassani, it's every bit as quite as the duel/duel system, just expensive as hell. It's one of the best fitting most complete systems I've ever put in and sounds sweet with long tube's and ORP...The Whisper is pretty quite too.

What is the cost of that system and which vendor carries it?

I would acually look at the Random Technology. Pretty quiet cruising and at idle, sounds like a mother at WOT. I wanted something a littler deeper, so I replaced the muffler with a Ultra-Flow race muffler.

I agree with quik 99SS, I have Random Tech. catback and its pretty quite at idle. But gets nice and deep and loud at WOT. Then if you want louder get you a cutout.

heard the RT catback. sounded awesome. it just wasnt' behind long tubes/off road so i was a little worried as to how loud it'd be then. i might have to look into that. just weird having all hooker stuff 'cept for the catback but i'm weird like that.
