engine removal question

engine removal question Ok long story short I am removing an engine from a 2000 Z28 and putting it in a 67 camaro. I am taking it out with an engine hoist and have taken out the radiator so i have the room to slide it out. I unbolted 4 bolts to the motor mounts on each side and have taken out the trans crossmember to disconnect the trans but when I went to pull it out I am stuck. It wont come forward at all. WHY!!!!!!!!! Did i forget to unbolt something else
did you get the bolt at the very top of the tranny? its knid of ahrd tob reak it loose, we had it down on the floor and i ended up ahving to wedge screw drivers into mine and get it apart

Alright,
There are 8 bellhousing bolts. In order to get the upper two you can climb in the engine bay to get at them. I believe they are 15mm? Anyways youre going to need a ratcheting wrench. If you cannont break torque on the bolts (which you should be able to) youll have to hook the motor mounts back up and undo the tranny cross member(support the tranny with a jack before doing this). Lower that sucker down as far as you need and get 2 12 in extensions and a universal 15mm socket. Goto work. lf all 8 bolts are out and it still doesnt want to come free, get some PB Blaster and spray it on the alignment dowels a couple times over. Eventually it will break free.

Oh by the way. You might need to remove the a/c condensor and possibly have a ratchet strap to wrap around the harmonic balancer to the cherry picker. Ratchet it up to get the engine at a better angle to come out. You will have to do some twisting and turning of the engine to get it out. IT CAN BE DONE !!!! (done it twice now)
