BIG Single Exhaust??

Mrr23, who is a member on here, gained 15RWHP going from a 3" y-pipe exhaust to the Bassani 2.5" true dual exhaust.
He actually made more power with the TD's and ran faster in the 1/4 mile then he did with an open cutout. And I've never seen a y-pipe setup make more power than an open cutout.
Heres his website:

I think that should answer your question

There's a reason all high end sports cars come with dual exhaust with a crossover of either an X or H pipe. It's best for flow, exhaust velocity, and sound.
A true dual 3" system with an X-pipe will make more power, flow better, and have high exhaust velocities than your 4" y-pipe setup. Its a fact, physics are working against you. If you don't believe me than try it yourself, you will make more power and torque than you have now.

Have you ever dynoed the same car with a true dual and then with a big single and Y pipe?

I believe the difference was 5-7 hp up top and it lost around the same in the mid range. This being an exhaust that went over the axle and out the back. The main reason that people choice one or the other is sound. You can make either support power if you build it right. How many exhausts have you personally built? How many have you personally dynoed and tuned? I doubt many.
seems like a decent gain when comparing 2 already "high capacity" exhausts

A lot would have to do with the muffler, no? Some are proven to flow much better then others. I actually really like the single tip, turndown style exhuast. It's gives Camaro's a very clean look in the back, most exhaust tips on that car look bad.

Yours has the perfect depth. I did notice from your pics that it looks like you could use some wax on your paint though

On the subject of single or twin exhaust tips, I was just thinking, would a straight through muffler with one outlet on the left flow better than a crossflow? I would think less bends means better flow, right? I wouldn't mind having the exhaust exit just on the left if it meant better exhaust flow.

I've got a 4" sleeper exhaust setup.
