Mac headers and cracked welds Well the EGR tube on my ceramic coated Mac headers decided to crack open in less then 17,000 miles. The cause, most likely the vibrations on the tube from having EGR block offs and the tube not having a solid support. Either way, the quality of these headers in general leave a lot to be desired since new. Maybe they are much improved now, I don't know, but if you have a mysterious ticking, it may be from this cracked tube. I couldn't see the crack until the header was off the car and flipped over.
I'm looking for ideas on getting rid of this EGR tube and sealing it at the collector. Anyone do this yet?
