Default Jumping into Mac Header install.

Me and a friend are going to try to install my Mac Headers tommorrow. I was just curious if you guys could tell me approxamantly how long its going to take us and any problems we might run into. Neither of us have done headers before, but we know basicly what to do. When you get down to it its just a bolt on mod. There the 01 style of Macs w/ ORP for my 01 WS6. So no EGR to mess with and I've heard that the newer models are easier to work with. Any advice would be great guys. Thx.

Drivers side from bottom, passenger side from top, but remove valve cover.

I did them both from the top with valve covers off. The drivers side literally fell right in (move the steering wheel a little if you have too).

The passenger side I beat in with a rubber mallet. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Not exactly dropping in but that thing was not going in from the bottom for me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Both from the top with valve covers and coil packs removed. I also removed the EGR. No beating with a hammer, went right in.

Left valve covers on. I grinded about one inch of the small block ears on each side of the engine. Slid both in from the bottom with no beating.

I did mine and it was the first time I did header install, it took me about 7 hours with air tools. Put them in both from the bottom, its easy. You will have to grind down a little block on the passenger, then it will just slide up in too. Make sure you remove all the plugs!! Email me if you have any questions

Eric's just took a light tap, no major beating or anything. took us about 5 hours, and an hour of that was messing with his EGR.

I went through the bottom on both sides. Passenger side I had to undo the motor mount and jack up a couple of inches.

Thx for all your intput guys. The install took us 9 1/2 hours. Gettign the headers in was actually one of the easiest parts! We just had to the the front 3 coil packs off the both headers slid right in from the bottom! We had trouble with the air tubes, had to bend the hell out of them to line up. And it just took forever to get the header bolts back in. But alls looking good. No SES light, and a mean sound. hehe

I can't understand all this grinding, jacking, and removing valve covers. On an '01, simply take the coil pack rails off, slide them in from the bottom (pass side I removed the starter), and that's it.
