Default Descreened MAF Conclusions...

Those of you that read my prior thread about my 2002 A4 shifting softer after descreening the MAF,I have come to a conclusion about it on MY car. First, I took all of your recommendations (check tranny fluid level, and such) and they all proved to be in the normal range. I could not bump the tranny pressure up since no programming tool is out for the 02s yet.

I went out and purchased another stock screened MAF, and immediately after switching to the screened MAF, my car shifted like normal again.

So, my car did not respond well to the descreened MAF (at least not without some way to bump the tranny pressure back up). Thanks to all that helped (especially Dan, who sold me the MAF)! I will try it again when LS1edit comes out for 2002s.

Interesting observation. I know BradWS6 descreened the MAF on his '98 Formula and I think he ran a tenth or 2 slower. Some cars like 'em, some cars don't. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

When my laptop comes in, I will do some testing via Obd2.
